Welcome back to my blog!

Many things have happened over the last couple weeks here in Baton Rouge! In order to raise MORE money for our trip to Mozambique we served jambalaya lunches to 1000 people! So...at 5:00 in the morning we met with the experts of jambalaya making (three old men from the heart of Louisiana!!) to cook up the grub. More than once i heard the expression "Lord get in that pot!" exclaimed in a perfect southern accent. Here is a picture of us stiring the sausage and pork in huge iron pots...

About a week after that our final paper was due! This is a picture of how my desk looked for a few days while writing my HERMENEUTICS paper. Thank God i finished on time! I ended up getting a really good grade too! So for all my supporters out there...please know...I am learning TONS! And having a great time doing it!

In other news... one of the final requirements of Elevate was to run a 5k race. The race was unashamedly called the FAT BOY 5K. We all ran our hearts out and had an awesome time! I almost lost my life because I ran the whole 3.2 miles. I finished in 27 minutes... and somehow I finished as one of the first 50 women out of 1000 racers... For this accomplishment i won this prize: a beautiful coffee mug! Woohoo!
